Does Living with a Wild River Improve Mental Health and Well‐Being? A Case Study of Blue‐Space Interaction and Stress Reduction in Southern Albania
The effect of natural blue space on subjective well‐being and self‐perceived stress among residents of Përmet, Albania ( N = 203), with 80.3 per cent of whom reside within 1 km of the Vjosa River was examined. Three exposure indicators – visit frequency, proximity and time spent in the river surroundings – were focused on using the PYER framework (PY = physical activity; E = exposure; R = years of residence). Moderation models and structural equa…

This study explores the relationship between climate change awareness (CCA) and consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for urban short food chains (USFC), focusing on the mediating role of biospheric, egoistic, and altruistic environmental concerns. A structured questionnaire was conducted with 230 respondents in Tirana, Albania, and the results were analysed using the PROCESS macro in SPSS 25.0. The findings reveal that CCA increases all three envi…
Mental Health Benefits of Blue Spaces Exposure

Data from 534 respondents were collected through the Albanian Urban Blue Spaces (AUBS) Survey. A moderated mediation analysis was conducted to test whether physical activity and sleep quality mediate the relationship between blue space exposure and psycho…

Linking climate change awareness to environ…
The Role of Urban Green Spaces on Life Satisfaction and Migration Willingness in Tirana, Albania
In the framework of place attachment we explore how green spaces contribute to life satisfaction in a context of high emigration rates. We propose that green spaces affect life satisfaction of the population through the mediation of physical health and mental health, and this relationship is moderated by migration willingness. We conducted our study in March-April 2021 in the city of Tirana, Albania. Using physical and mental health indicators, o…

This ex-ante study explores the readiness of local stakeholders in a rural area to undertake the collective actions necessary to create a Geographical Indication on cheese to protect it from unfair competitiveness provided by brand usurpation. The paper provides an analytical model employable to assess the willingness of local stakeholders to cooperate on achieving a common goal in different post-communist rural areas. The proposed model combines…
