  • How to increase Covid-19 vaccination among a population with persistently suboptimal vaccine uptake? Evidence from the North Macedonia mobile vaccination and public health advice caravan

    Open Access•Manuel Serrano-Alarcón, Martin Mckee et al.•ARTICLE•Health Policy•2024

Over three years since the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved, many countries still have suboptimal vaccination rates despite holding great amounts of vaccines. Overall, there is little evidence on which policies are more effective to encourage vaccination, particularly in countries where a large share of the population remains unvaccinated. In this study, we examine the effectiveness of a community-based intervention carried out in March 2022 i…

  • Long-term unemployment subsidies and middle-aged disadvantaged workers’ health

Open Access•José Ignacio García Pérez, José Ignacio Garcia-Pérez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Population Economics•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Our results show that men who were eligible for the benefit experience a reduction in injury hospitalisations by 12.9% as well as a 2 percenta…

To clarify this, we performed the first systematic review and meta-analysis of the evidence of a causal association between economic insecurity and populism. We combined database searches with searching the citations of eligible studies and recently published reviews. We identified and reviewed thirty-six studies and presented a concis…

  • Effect of a national primary care reform on avoidable hospital admissions (2000-2015)

    Open Access•Klára Dimitrovová, Josh Perelman et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2020•Cited by: 5•References: 29

  • Ageing under unequal circumstances

    Open Access•Manuel Serrano-Alarcón, Josh Perelman•ARTICLE•International Journal for Equity…•2017

Functional limitations are unequally distributed, hitting women and the worse-off earlier and more severely, with consequences on care needs. Considering the burden on healthcare systems and families, public health policies should seek to reduce current inequalities in functional limitations
