Adolescents' spanking beliefs are related to their parents' spanking beliefs, suggesting that they are transmitted across generations. The stress of being bullied has been associated with a wide range of negative consequences. For more than 20 years, there have been periodic reports in the research literature about the co-occurrence of spouse abuse and physical child abuse. This review compiles and evaluates those reports. Forty-two studies were found that provided some data concerning co-occurrence; 31 of the studies included sufficient detail to be used in this review.
