Availability of Hib, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus, and HPV vaccines in China
Vaccines are cornerstones of public health, yet equitable access remains a major global challenge. While China has achieved sustained high coverage of National Immunization Program (NIP) vaccines, some WHO-recommended cost-effective non-NIP vaccines, such as Hib, pneumococcal conjugate (PCV), rotavirus, and human papillomavirus vaccines (HPV) are not universally accessible and often require out-of-pocket payment. This study examines geographic an…
Recentralization and the long-lasting effect of campaign-style enforcement
This paper discusses whether the effect of campaign-style enforcement can surpass the short term from the perspective of authority allocation. Based on the theory of authority allocation, we establish an explanatory framework for the impact of authority allocation on the effect of campaign-style enforcement. We argue that, through authority allocation, the central government has both formal authority and real authority, which helps to extend the …
Effect of non-pharmaceutical interventions in the early phase of the Covid-19 epidemic in Saudi Arabia
Non-pharmaceutical interventions have been widely employed to control the COVID-19 pandemic. Their associated effect on SARS-CoV-2 transmission have however been unequally studied across regions. Few studies have focused on the Gulf states despite their potential role for global pandemic spread, in particular in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through religious pilgrimages. We study the association between NPIs and SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the King…
How Noise Can Influence Experience-Based Decision-Making under Different Types of the Provided Information
Pervasive noise undermines many cognitive processes. Across two studies, we examined how noise influences experience-based decision-making and whether the nature of the information provided moderates this influence. Study 1 used the repeated choice paradigm and found that noise can significantly reduce people's performance in experience-based decision-making by increasing the likelihood of choosing the option with the lower expected value. This n…
Ten-year impacts of China’s rural health scheme
China has made profound progress in advancing universal health coverage (UHC) over the past two decades. New Cooperative Medical Scheme (NCMS) was initiated in 2003 to provide health insurance coverage to rural population. Its benefit packages and cost-sharing mechanism have changed significantly over time. This study aims to assess the impact of changing NCMS policies on NCMS enrollees’ service utilisation, medical financial burden and equity be…
Effective Covid-19 Control
Timely setting of stringency of the control measures, especially public health measures, at dynamically high levels is key to optimally controlling outbreaks
Effects of Elevation and Distance from Highway on the Abundance and Community Structure of Bacteria in Soil along Qinghai-Tibet Highway
In recent years, highway construction in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) has developed rapidly. When the highway passes through grassland, the soil, vegetation, and ecological environment along the line are disturbed. However, the impact on soil bacteria is still unclear. Soil bacteria play an important role in the ecological environment. The Qinghai-Tibet Highway (QTH) was selected as the research object to explore the changes in bacterial commu…
Modeling copper demand in China up to 2050
In this paper, we develop a dynamic stock model and scenario analysis involving a bottom‐up approach to analyze copper demand in China from 2005 to 2050 based on government and related sectoral policies. The results show that in the short‐term, China's copper industry cannot achieve a completely circular economy without additional measures. Aggregate and per capita copper demand are both set to increase substantially, especially in infrastructure…
