Reconstructing Russell City, California's Past: The City May Be Gone, But the Memories Live On

Its population increased and demographics changed during the 1940s, when African American and Latinx families migrated to the area and became the town's majority. The hamlet was never incorporated and lacked basic utilities, yet Russell Cityans self-governed, provided civic safety services, established churches and businesses, and sealed financial deals b…
Can low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy for non‐cardiac chest pain presentations to an emergency department be efficacious? A pilot study

He then examines 24 cultures and finds a strong correlation between the variables. Historical analysis also supports the theory. Evidence is presented that romantic love …
Romantic Love: The Great Equalizer? Sexism in Popular Music
Two hundred songs that were popular between 1954 and 1968 were examinedfor sexism. Some of the findings were in accord with traditional sex-role expectations, but others were not. Men were described often as being emotional and submissive, while women were almost as active as the men. Several explanations for these findings are given. It is suggested that love songs may serve the function of allowing men to release emotions that are considered un…
An Information-Related Systems Theory of Counseling
The author suggests that a systems theory of counseling should have an adequate theoretical foundation in the way various types of systems handle information. Using the works of W. R. Ashby as a basis, the paper is a beginning attempt to establish this foundation. It describes how information can be used to maintain homeostasis and protect key variables in the system. Implications for both individual and family counseling are discussed
