Impact of the Unified Protocol on Attenuated Psychotic Symptoms, Cognitive Biases and Cognitive Insight in Patients at Ultra High Risk (UHR) for Psychosis
BACKGROUND AND HYPOTHESIS: Ultra high risk (UHR) for psychosis can have different clinical trajectories but the remission rates are only 51.9% after 3 years of follow-up. Deficits in metacognition are associated with severity of symptoms and poor response to treatment. We hypothesize that the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP) will have a positive effect on attenuated psychotic symptoms, cognitive biase…

Interparental violence
This study provides valuable insights into the role of EA, symptoms, and protective factors in EIPV children in a clinical sample. Lower EA, fewer protective factors, and higher levels of internalizing and externalizing symptoms in EIPV children when compared to their non-EIPV counterparts. Including a structures evaluation of EA and Protective Factors in the EIPV child population would improve diagnostic accuracy of trauma and the design of spec…

Relationship between emotional awareness, symptoms, and protective factors in children exposed to intimate partner violence
This study highlights the relevance of EA for children EIPV. Lower EA was associated with higher symptom severity, while higher EA was linked to better self-esteem, social skills, and resilience. The findings suggest the significance of addressing EA in therapeutic interventions for this population. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
Cross-Cultural Insights from Two Global Mental Health Studies
This commentary highlights two cross-cultural issues identified from our global mental health (GMH) research, RECOLLECT (Recovery Colleges Characterisation and Testing) 2: self-enhancement and ingroup biases. Self-enhancement is a tendency to maintain and express unrealistically positive self-views. Ingroup biases are differences in one’s evaluation of others belonging to the same social group. These biases are discussed in the context of GMH res…

Assessment of the treatment needs of community recovery Services in Spain
Profile of Community Recovery Services users has changed over the years and has become more diverse. To explore the evolution of treatment needs, this study aimed to identify users' needs, from the point of view of different agents implicated in the recovery process. We explored the consistency between the agents using the focus group technique. We defined four groups (n = 58): service users, family members, professionals, and referring professio…

Cognitive Biases Questionnaire for Psychosis (CBQp)
Introduction: Cognitive biases are key factors in the development and persistence of delusions in psychosis. The Cognitive Biases Questionnaire for Psychosis (CBQp) is a new self-reported questionnaire of 30 relevant situations to evaluate five types of cognitive biases in psychosis. In the context of the validation of the Spanish version of the CBQp, our objectives were to (1) analyze the factorial structure of the questionnaire with a confirmat…
Placing Cognitive Rigidity in Interpersonal Context in Psychosis
Introduction: People with psychosis show impairments in cognitive flexibility, a phenomenon that is still poorly understood. In this study, we tested if there were differences in cognitive and metacognitive processes related to rigidity in patients with psychosis. We compared individuals with dichotomous interpersonal thinking and those with flexible interpersonal thinking. Methods: We performed a secondary analysis using two groups with psychosi…
A Method to Compare the Delivery of Psychiatric Care for People with Treatment-Resistant Schizophrenia
Although the availability of services was different in each region, most of the services provided were sufficiently similar to allow the implementation of the same ICT solution in the three places
Clinical and non-clinical hallucinations are similarly associated with source memory errors in a visual memory task
Psychotic Experiences in the General Population
The epidemiologic features of PEs are more nuanced than previously thought. Research is needed that focuses on similarities and differences in the predictors of the onset, course, and consequences of distinct PEs.
Dog-Assisted Therapy in the Treatment of Chronic Schizophrenia Inpatients
Patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia living in long-term care units show high levels of disability. The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness of including a trained therapy dog in an intervention program applied to institutionalized patients with chronic schizophrenia. A randomized, controlled study with blind assessment was conducted. Twenty-four persons with chronic schizophrenia were randomly selected from a register that inclu…
Foraging ecology of howler monkeys in a cacao ( Theobroma cacao ) plantation in Comalcalco, Mexico
Recent evidence indicates that primate populations may persist in neotropical fragmented landscapes by using arboreal agroecosystems, which may provide temporary habitats, increased areas of vegetation, and connectivity, among other benefits. However, limited data are available on how primates are able to sustain themselves in such manmade habitats. We report the results of a 9‐month‐long investigation of the feeding ecology of a troop of howler …
