  • Olfactory Dysfunction in Covid-19 Patients Who Do Not Report Olfactory Symptoms: A Pilot Study with Some Suggestions for Dentists

Open Access•Riccardo Favero, Silva Hajrulla et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Objective measurement methods of olfactory performance show a higher prevalence of olfactory reduction compared to patients' self-reported questionnaires. Olfactory dysfunction can last even months after its onset and because of its high prevalence, it could be a screening symptom for suspect COVID-19 cases

  • Future Healthcare Workers and Hepatitis B Vaccination: A New Generation

Open Access•Andrea Trevisan, Paola Mason et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Before the introduction of universal vaccination, hepatitis B caused high morbidity and mortality, especially among healthcare workers. In the present study, the immune status against hepatitis B was assessed in a cohort of 11,188 students of the degree courses of the School of Medicine of the University of Padua (Italy) who had been subjected to mandatory vaccination in childhood or adolescence and who will be future healthcare workers. The vari…

  • Assessing heterogeneity in menstrual cycles by means of a multilevel latent class approach

    F Bassi, Bruno Scarpa•ARTICLE•Biodemography and Social Biology•2020•References: 23

In this paper, we study the problem of heterogeneity in cervical mucus hydration at different times relative to the mucus peak both between cycles and women, specifying and estimating appropriate multilevel latent class models for longitudinal data. We estimate multilevel and growth latent class models which classify women on the basis of the evolution of cervical mucus characteristics observed over the fertile period of each menstrual cycle taki…

  • A mortality model based on a mixture distribution function

Stefano Mazzuco, Bruno Scarpa et al.•ARTICLE•Population Studies•2018•Cited by: 7•References: 19

A new mortality model based on a mixture distribution function is proposed. We mix a half-normal distribution with a generalization of the skew-normal distribution. As a result, we get a six-parameter distribution function that has a good fit with a wide variety of mortality patterns. This mixture model is fitted to several mortality data schedules and compared with the Siler (five-parameter) and Heligman-Pollard (eight-parameter) models. Our pro…
