Using social network analysis to assess the Pontocaspian biodiversity conservation capacity in Ukraine
Gogaladze, A., F. P. Wesselingh, K. Biesmeijer, V. Anistratenko, N. Gozak, M. O. Son, and N. Raes. 2020. Using social network analysis to assess the Pontocaspian biodiversity conservation capacity in Ukraine. Ecology and Society 25(2):25. https://doi.org/10.5751/ES-11575-250225

Year-round shellfish exploitation in the Levant and implications for Upper Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer subsistence
Middle–late Pleistocene marine molluscs from Izmit Bay area (eastern Marmara Sea, Turkey) and the nature of Marmara – Black Sea corridors
Rapid evolution of coastal lagoons in response to human interference under rapid sea level change
This paper examines the interdependence of different factors in the evolution of a coastal lagoon system of the Sefidrud Delta (SW Caspian Sea) based on multi-proxy sedimentary and palaeoecological analyses and remotely sensed data. According to historical aerial photographs and multiple strands of chronology, these coastal lagoons formed between 1955 and 1964, when the sea-level was relatively stable. However, formation of barrier-lagoon systems…
Vegetation and climate changes during the late Pliocene and early Pleistocene in SW Anatolia, Turkey
Pollen analysis was done on lacustrine sedimentary sequences dated by micromammals as late Pliocene–early Pleistocene that outcrop in two Neogene graben basins from SW Turkey. This study shows vegetation changes from steppe-like to more forested environments, very similar to the cyclic oscillations related to late Pleistocene glacial–interglacial climate changes. Artemisia was abundant during cold–arid periods, indicating that this species was al…

Amazonia: Landscape and Species Evolution
The book focuses on geological history as the critical factor in determining the present biodiversity and landscapes of Amazonia. The different driving mechanisms for landscape evolution are explored by reviewing the history of the Amazonian Craton, the associated sedimentary basins, and the role of mountain uplift and climate change. This book provdes an insight into the Meso- and Cenozoic record of Amazonia that was characterized by fluvial and…
