Given the importance of volunteerism to Canadian sport, and the need for research to understand the characteristics of sport volunteerism, a pilot study was carried out to explore the experiences of volunteers in sport. Toward an Understanding of Gender Differences in Inferring Sexual Interest
Research has shown that, after brief opposite-gender interactions, men perceive women more sexually than women perceive men (e.g., Abbey, 1982 ). This study examined interpersonal perceptions following dyadic cross-gender interactions between unacquainted individuals. Self-Disclosure Patterns Among Well-Acquainted Individuals
Round-robin self-reports regarding self-disclosure were obtained from groups of wellacquainted individuals and examined using the Social Relations Model. Degree of self-disclosure was strongly influenced by individual differences between disclosers (actor effects) and by relationship effects; that is, there was evidence for cross-partner consistency in disclosure and for differences between relationships. The authors investigate the relative importance of actor and interaction partner as determinants of dyadic behavior. Using the social relations model (D. A. Kenny, 1994a; D. A. Kenny & L. Meta-accuracy among acquainted individuals
Meta-accuracy, knowing how others view the self, was examined using the Social Relations Model. Fifteen groups of 4-6 acquainted individuals gave self-ratings, perceptions of other group members, and estimated others' perceptions of self (metaperceptions) on the Big Five and Interesting. Individuals also rated liking and metaperceptions of liking. Trait perceptions were consensual, and self-other agreement emerged for most traits. Affect judgment…
