    Neste trabalho, examinamos a situação de contato linguístico Aruák/Tukano Oriental no noroeste amazônico e seus efeitos em línguas TO da sub-região do Uaupés. Consideramos também algumas hipóteses propostas em Aikhenvald 2002 quanto à natureza da difusão em situações de contato (múltilaterial/unilateral, direta/indireta) e os resultados linguísticos (enriquecimento vs. empobrecimento /abandono de padrões)

    This paper analyzes the tonal and accentual system of Barasana, a Tucanoan language spoken in Northwest Amazonia. Barasana exhibits a system of high and low tones, with high tone bearing a secondary stress. The paper argues that the best analysis of this system is one in which high tone is underlyingly associated with a [+H] feature linked to the stressed syllable, while low tone is the default, unmarked tone.
