Searching for an exit from highway apocalypse
This study investigates how individuals relate to different future scenarios based on climate change and the green transition of society. The analysis focuses on their ideas of a good life, their lived experiences and emotional responses to anticipated societal and environmental changes. The study is based on qualitative interviews with 28 people active in Sweden’s industrial and forest sectors. Participants were prompted to reflect on the probab…
Tangled Up in Green: A Review of Policy Analyses of the European Green Deal
The European Green Deal (EGD) was introduced as a transformative policy agenda for sustainability aiming to make Europe the first climate‐neutral continent in the world. While previous research has studied its transformative potential, there is no comprehensive review of that research. We provide an integrative review of discursive policy analyses of the EGD, arguing that it is pivotal that policymakers understand what transformational potentials…

Mental well-being and work capacity: A cross-sectional study in a sample of the Swedish working population
This study, focusing on a currently working population, identified disparities in self-perceived mental well-being and work capacity across gender and age groups. These findings underscore the importance of early workplace interventions to support mental well-being and work capacity in these sub-groups. Notably, the association between the WHO-5 and C2WI may be partly attributable to item-level overlap, as certain C2WI items may capture symptoms …

Meeting utopia halfway: A hauntological approach to resonant conversations with utopian futures in times of climate crisis
The climate crisis calls for political conversations that go beyond what is currently accepted within capitalist discourse. In this article, I outline theoretical orientations that may underpin more constructive dialogues, using Derrida's term hauntology , Rosa's concept resonance , and Willener's imaginaction , discussed in relation to the performative function of future imaginaries in the present. By engaging resonantly and hauntologically with…
On the possibility of morphocide: Can Fossil Capitalism Be Dismantled
Society and its social forms develop through the social interactions of various agents. The tempo of such transformations has increased over the last decades, which implies a growing mass of obsolete and dead social forms. One persisting social form whose death is overdue, given its effect on climate change, is fossil capitalism. This article introduces the term morphocide, which is defined as the active ending of social forms and denotes the del…
Dark resonance: On the possibility of resonance with death
The concept of resonance , introduced by Hartmut Rosa, denotes a vital relationship to the world and offers a starting point for discussing meaningfulness in peoples' lives by serving as an antithesis to alienation. An unexplored aspect of the concept is the potential for resonance with death, which Rosa dismisses as an impossibility. This article challenges this view by introducing the term dark resonance , based on the 'dark turn' in the philos…

Institutionalizing suspicion: Tracing the decline of the Swedish sickness insurance system in the 2000’s
This article presents an analysis of Swedish sickness insurance in the 2000's, outlining cultural and structural shifts in political and institutional design. The study is based on analytic dualism and Margaret S. Archer's morphogenetic model, which is used to create an analytical narrative focusing on political and institutional developments. The narrative identifies two distinct phases: one period of rapid cultural and structural change (morpho…
Resonance and reflexivity as pathways to eudaimonia in the Anthropocene
The Anthropocene challenges our ways of relating to the world and our ideas of how to lead a good and ethical life under the threat of climate catastrophe. In this article, two theoretical propositions around how we relate to the world are explored in search for synergies to help outline pathways to a good life: Hartmut Rosa's resonance theory and Margaret S. Archer's reflexivity theory. Both focus on our encounters with the world and suggest way…
Shifting from an individual to an organizational perspective in work environment management – a process evaluation of a six-year intervention program within the Swedish public sector
Results indicate that a long-term organizational-level workplace intervention program may be used, by the employer, as a tool for shifting from an individual- to an organizational perspective in the work environment management. However, additional measures on multiple levels need to be implemented to secure a sustainable shift in perspective within the organization

The impact of leadership on employee well-being: On-site compared to working from home
This study shows that there are few differences between employees working from home or working on-site during the Covid-19 pandemic. The supportive leadership of the closest manager seem to be important for well-being regardless of the worksite

When cooperation turns ugly: Exploring the dark side of social capital
Purpose This article explores theoretical assumptions regarding negative consequences of social capital in the empirical case of a failed cooperation project, and how these consequences are related to processes involving people, structures and environments. Design/methodology/approach The article is based on a case study of a cooperation project within municipal labor market services. The methodology followed a theorizing process, where data were…
New and small firms in a modern working life: How do we make entrepreneurship healthy
The interplay between health, entrepreneurship and small and emerging businesses is a research field receiving growing interest. Studies point to both health-related risks and opportunities, which have implications for the social and economic lives of entrepreneurs and employees in small and new firms. Research has been carried out in different disciplines, which have contributed in different ways to the understanding of this inquiry. As the fiel…
Zooming in on labor market cooperation: A study of a failed project to support unemployed young people
Purpose The aim was to study the relational dynamics of interorganizational cooperation over the life of a labor market project supporting unemployed young people. Methods The methodological process followed the practice theory toolkit described by Nicolini (2012). Data were collected by ethnographical methods through the initiation, development and closing down of the project. Data analysis was performed in relation to three focus areas: (a) ten…
Petty corruption in the public sector: A comparative study of three East African countries through a behavioural lens
This article presents comparative evidence about the relevance of behavioural drivers in relation to petty corruption in three East African countries. It discusses the potential to incorporate behavioural insights into anti-corruption policy-making. Persistently high levels of bureaucratic corruption prevail in many countries across the African continent. This along with the limited effectiveness of conventional anti-corruption prescriptions call…

Promoting occupational health interventions in early return to work by implementing financial subsidies: A Swedish case study
The study highlights the complexity of promoting interventions through financial incentives, since their implementation requires that they are perceived by the stakeholders involved as purposeful, manageable and cost-effective. There are inherent political challenges in influencing stakeholders who act on a free market, in that the impact of policies may be limited, unless they are enforced by law
The influence of social capital on employers’ use of occupational health services: A qualitative study
Social capital emerges as central to understanding the conditions for cooperation and collective action in the use of occupational health services, with reference to structural (e.g. contracts), relational (e.g. trust) as well as cognitive (e.g. shared vision) dimensions. The study suggests that attention to the quality of relationships is imperative for developing purposeful occupational health service delivery in rehabilitation and return to wo…
Positive experiences of a vocational rehabilitation intervention for individuals on long-term sick leave, the Dirigo project: A qualitative study
The main result showed that the clients had an overall positive experience of a vocational rehabilitation project and encounters with professionals who used motivational interviewing as a communication method. The overall positive experience indicated that their interactions with the different professionals may have affected their self-efficacy in general and in relation to transition to work. The knowledge is essential for the professionals work…
Process evaluation of an interorganizational cooperation initiative in vocational rehabilitation: The Dirigo project
Cooperative work combined with the use of MI and flexible case management seem to promote an increased trust between officials from different authorities and participants, which in the study is conceptualized as bonding and bridging social capital (between officials) and linking social capital (between officials and participants). The organizational problems combined with the relatively large differences in approaches between the project and regu…
Longitudinal association between psychological demands and burnout for employees experiencing a high versus a low degree of job resources
This study shows that high demands are associated with greater risk of burnout, regardless of level of other work supports. This has implications for prevention of sick leave due to burnout and for rehabilitation, where demands such as work pace, workload and conflicting demands at work may need to be reduced
