The impact of privacy risk perception on initial trust in autonomous vehicle: Differential responses of professionals and non-professionals
Impact of social factors and health campaigns on the burden of idiopathic epilepsy: An inequality, decomposition, generalized and synthetic difference-in-differences study
Background: Idiopathic epilepsy is a major global health burden that causes premature death and disability. Previous studies have systematically analyzed trends in the burden of idiopathic epilepsy. However, analyses of the impact of social factors, health campaigns and policies on the burden of idiopathic epilepsy are lacking. This study aims to fill that gap. Methods: We used data from the 2021 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) and calculated the …
Asian Evasion: Identifying and Countering a Bias Toward Avoiding Asians With Covid-19
Converging evidence points toward the COVID-19 pandemic having amplified lingering anti-Asian prejudice and discrimination, including the virus’s geographical origin being highlighted on social media. This amplification is consistent with theoretical frameworks and empirical findings that connect moral disapproval to biological aversion. Furthermore, experimental literature suggests that prejudicial stereotypes (e.g., of Black criminality) can pr…
Boy’s love fans versus non-fans in the sexual identity and neural response in the digital age’s young females
With the omnipresence of online social media, Boys' Love (BL) culture has found a burgeoning audience among young females. However, we know very little about the audience of this online cultural phenomena, also the potential implications of BL culture to female remain under-explored. Study 1 conducted a survey to investigate the BL audience's demography data and attitudes to homosexual ect. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that th…
The Covariation of Emotion and Passage of Time Judgments: Insights from Weibo
Previous studies have suggested that emotions influence individuals’ passage of time judgments (PoTJs). However, it remains unclear how this relationship manifests in daily life. Weibo provides a wealth of daily verbal expressions from individuals, offering valuable data for analyzing how emotions and PoTJs vary. Utilizing this resource and choosing a specific period of time—COVID-19—the authors innovatively examined the relationships between emo…
The reversed compatibility effect: Distractors matching the response feature but not the selection feature capture attention and evoke suppression
Factors influencing passage of time judgment in individuals’ daily lives: Evidence from the experience sampling and diary methods
Brain-to-brain synchrony increased during interpersonal touch in romantic lovers: An EEG-based hyperscanning study
Our study indicates that interpersonal touch may have different meanings between romantic lovers and strangers. Specifically, interpersonal touch enhances the dIFC between romantic lovers while reducing the dIFC between strangers. The research has important implications for planning touch-based interventions in social and medical care
The Báa nnilah Program: Results of a Chronic-Illness Self-Management Cluster Randomized Trial with the Apsáalooke Nation
Indigenous people in Montana are disproportionately affected by chronic illness (CI), a legacy of settler colonialism. Existing programs addressing CI self-management are not appropriate because they are not consonant with Indigenous cultures in general and the Apsáalooke culture specifically. A research partnership between the Apsáalooke (Crow Nation) non-profit organization Messengers for Health and Montana State University co-developed, implem…

A Depression-Risk Mental Pattern Identified by Hidden Markov Model in Undergraduates
Few studies have examined depression risk screening approaches. Universal depression screening in youth typically focuses on directly measuring the current distress and impairment by several kinds of depression rating scales. However, as many people have stigmatizing attitudes to individuals with depression, youths with depression were in fear of being known, and embarrassment held them back from reporting their depression symptoms. Thus, the pre…

Psychometric Evaluation of Chinese-Language 44-Item and 10-Item Big Five Personality Inventories, Including Correlations with Chronotype, Mindfulness and Mind Wandering
The 44-item and 10-item Big Five Inventory (BFI) personality scales are widely used, but there is a lack of psychometric data for Chinese versions. Eight surveys (total N = 2,496, aged 18-82), assessed a Chinese-language BFI-44 and/or an independently translated Chinese-language BFI-10. Most BFI-44 items loaded strongly or predominantly on the expected dimension, and values of Cronbach's alpha ranged .698-.807. Test-retest coefficients ranged .69…

A Contextual Model Analysis of Women's Social Competence, Affective Characteristics, and Satisfaction in Premarital Relationships
To test the contextual model (Fincham & Bradbury, 1988), this study examined the associations among social competence factors (e.g., self-disclosure, conflict resolution), affective factors (e.g., optimism, loneliness), and satisfaction in women's premarital relationships. The respondents (n = 108 undergraduate women) completed a questionnaire to assess all variables. Hierarchical multiple regression indicated that social competence factors parti…
Women's Personality Traits, Interpersonal Competence and Affection for Dating Partners: A Test of the Contextual Model
This study utilized the contextual model to examine the relationship between distal (Five- Factor Model of Personality), proximal (interpersonal competence), and affective outcome (love, liking) factors in women's perception of their dating relationships. Respondents ( n =123 females) completed a questionnaire packet to assess each of the factors. Results indicated that women's personality traits made direct and indirect contributions to liking a…
A Longitudinal Analysis of Parental Bonds and Relational Competencies during the College Years
This two-wave longitudinal study spanning the college years examined average change in adolescent-parent bonds, subgroup patterns in change, continuity of bonds, and continuity in the associations between bonds and relational compencies among 247 students attending a large, state-supported southwestern university. Consistent with theoretical approaches emphasizing the enduring nature of family bonds, no average change was found in adolescent-pare…

The impact of privacy risk perception on initial trust in autonomous vehicle: Differential responses of professionals and non-professionals
