‘It’s nice to be appreciated’
This paper explores heterosexual men’s experiences of sexting with a primary focus on how, when and why men send sexually explicit photos to women. Previous research has focused either on gay and bisexual men’s experiences or considered sexting within a broader youth context. This research considers young men and their engagement with sexting practices and its relationship to how they view and understand their bodies as desirable and sexual. Draw…
School-based relationship and sexuality education
Effective school-based relationship and sexuality education (RSE) can improve youth sexual outcomes, including knowledge and behaviour. National pedagogical guidance in the form of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education (AC: HPE), which includes RSE, was released in 2015. This study sought to determine the sexual health knowledge and school-based RSE experiences of Australian students since the release of the AC: HPE. It present…
Adolescent perspectives on addressing teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections in the classroom and beyond
Sex education both in and beyond the classroom has been shown to have the potential to ameliorate negative sexual health outcomes for adolescents. School-based sex education and sexual health services targeting young people should be informed, in part, by teenagers themselves. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 41 young people aged 13–22 years in a mid-sized midwest US city to inform such programme development. Analysis employed both …

Australian students’ experiences of sexuality education at school
Sexuality education is a trusted source of information and guidance for adolescents and young people on sexual health, sexuality and relationships, and it can improve the sexual health of this population. Such education is most effective when informed by the views of young people themselves; however, there is limited research that investigates young people’s experiences of school-based sexuality education. This paper presents findings related to …

Documentary fictionand especially the Spanish American novela testimonial-raises these familiar questions.' Though they are questions that may well occur to us as we read any work of fiction, they are also questions we may be likely to disregard. However, the novela testimonial …

Critics and Cortázar
It should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the text of Julio Cortazar that a wide range of critical work exists on his writing. In fact, the diversity of concerns informing Cortazar criticism, as well as the quantity of studies published in recent years, might seem a natural or inevitable by-product of the author's own variegated and voluminous production over the past three decades or so. To date, Cortazar has published at least four …
The Fiction of Popular Design and Desire
Boquitas pintadas, Manuel Puig's second novel, opens with a display of death-an obituary notice that announces the demise of Juan Carlos Etchepare (the small-time, small-town Don Juan who, as we shall see, functions as both a seductive model and a model of seduction in the text).' This written verification of closure on the life of the novel's protagonist seems to offer us a sign of the finite nature of a text which might otherwise appear ready a…
