    Open Access•Javier Fernández-Eraso, J A Mujika-Alustiza et al.•ARTICLE•Espacio Tiempo y Forma Serie I…•2025

  • New insights into shepherds’ activities: Multi-proxy approach applied to fumier deposits from the north of Iberian Peninsula

Genomics of the Iberian Peninsula Ancient DNA studies have begun to help us understand the genetic history and movements of people across the globe. Focusing on the Iberian Peninsula, Olalde et al. report genome-wide data from 271 ancient individuals from Iberia (see the Perspective by Vander Linden). The findings provide a comprehensive genetic time transect of the region. Linguistics analysis and genetic analysis of archaeological human remains…

The Alto de la Huesera dolmen was excavated in 1948. In 2010 a new archaeological fieldwork started with the objective of determining the condition of the monument, subsequently restoring it. In these works the team located a sandstone stela in the burial mound and beside the corridor, datable to the Chalcolithic age. The engravings are five deep parallel grooves that come in contact at the end creating a bell-shaped form and two pointed shapes t…

    Open Access•Luis Miguel Martínez Torres, Luis M Martínez‐Torres et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2014•Cited by: 2

La Chabola de la Hechicera , a Neolithic collective tomb which was first used at ca. 3850 B.C., has been re‐excavated for interpretation and stabilization. Information about the sources, handling, and placement of building materials allowed determination of the methods used to construct the dolmen monument. All of the rocks used in the structure are local Miocene sandstones, and the slabs were probably taken directly from the base of natural slop…

  • Paleoenvironmental reconstruction of the early Neolithic to middle Bronze Age Peña Larga rock shelter (Álava, Spain) from the small mammal record

Open Access•Juan Rofes, Mari Cruz Zuluaga et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2013

The Peña Larga site, a rock shelter on the southern slopes of the Cantabrian cordillera (north Spain), is an archeological deposit covering nearly 4000 years, from the early Neolithic to the middle Bronze Age (Atlantic/Subboreal chronozones). It was used both as a household and as a stable, with a hiatus in the Chalcolithic when it was used as a collective sepulcher. Nearly twenty-eight thousand small vertebrate elements were recovered from its s…
