Are Israeli Women Really Equal? Trends and Patterns of Israeli Women's Labor Force Participation
Secondary analysis of surveys and studies conducted in Israel during the period of 1930-1971 reveals that Israeli women have not achieved a higher degree of equality within the labor force than women in other industrial countries. This study was carried out on career women in high status positions in Israel. Factors of family structure related to women's occupational mobility chances were investigated. Women in high status positions were expected to originate predominantly from sibling groups composed solely of daughters, and to be, disproportionally, the youngest daughters in their family.
