  • Effect of Coal Mining on Soil Microorganisms from Stipa krylovii Rhizosphere in Typical Grassland

Open Access•Linlin Xie, Yinli Bi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

The environmental changes caused by coal mining activities caused disturbances to the plant, soil, and microbial health in the mining area. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) play an important role in the ecological restoration of mining areas. However, it is less understood how soil fungal communities with multiple functional groups respond to coal mining, and the quantitative impact and risk of mining disturbance. Therefore, in this study, the …

  • Psychometric properties of the Brief Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment (Bitsea) in two-year-old Ivorian and Ghanaian children

Dana Barthel, Levente Kriston et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Developmental Science•2022

There is a lack of feasible and psychometrically sound instruments assessing social-emotional development in young children in low- and middle-income countries. The objective of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Brief Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment (BITSEA) in two West-African populations. We administered the BITSEA in an interview-based mode to 289 mothers from Côte d'Ivoire and 227 …

  • Co-developmental trajectories of parental involvement: Relations to academic achievement and externalizing and internalizing problems among Chinese elementary schoolchildren

    Open Access•Nan Guo, E Scott Huebner et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Educational…•2022•Cited by: 2•References: 55

BackgroundParental involvement is an important multi-faceted factor in children's academic performance and school behaviour. However, most prior studies have involved cross-sectional designs, with few studies exploring the co-developmental nature of various parental involvement characteristics over time and their associations with children's academic achievement, externalizing, and internalizing problems.AimsThis study explored (a) co-development…

  • Analysis of the Image of Wu Zetian in Junior Middle School Teaching Materials

    Open Access•Nan Guo, Guo Nan•ARTICLE•Chinese Education & Society•2003

In the view of educational sociology, teaching materials represent society's "official knowledge." While transmitting systematic cultural knowledge to those being educated, teaching materials also transmit the mainstream social concepts they carry. This is all the more so for courses in human disciplines. If we examine the way Wu Zetian—that unique female historical personage—is presented in different editions of teaching materials, we can see th…

  • The Sequence of the Human Genome

Open Access•J Craig Venter, Mark D Adams et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2001

A 2.91-billion base pair (bp) consensus sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome was generated by the whole-genome shotgun sequencing method. The 14.8-billion bp DNA sequence was generated over 9 months from 27,271,853 high-quality sequence reads (5.11-fold coverage of the genome) from both ends of plasmid clones made from the DNA of five individuals. Two assembly strategies—a whole-genome assembly and a regional chromosome assembl…
