Membership and Boundary Maintenance on an Online Self-Harm Forum
In this article we explore how young adults became members and sustained membership in an online self-harm support forum, SharpTalk. We take a discursive approach to consider resources young people used to establish themselves, how others responded to their attempts, and how membership categories were developed and applied. Referrals to a regional allergy clinic - an eleven year audit
This study shows marked geographical differences in allergy referrals which are likely to reflect a combination of environmental factors and GP referral patterns. The data suggest that GPs may benefit from education and ongoing decision support and be supported by public education on the nature of allergy. Aversive potency of urine from dominant and subordinate male laboratory mice (Mus musculus)
The present study assessed the aversive potency of urine collected from male albino mice that had been clearly identified as dominants/winners or subordinates/losers of paired aggression tests and then housed either individually or in a quasi‐paired situation in which only a wire‐mesh divider separated the two mice. Effects of clean and soiled sawdust substrates and of different urine types upon aggressive behavior in male mice
The effects of sawdust taken from the cages of grouped or isolated male mice upon the aggressiveness of trained fighter mice toward castrated opponents were examined. The results indicate that (1) substrate soiled by stable groups of male mice does not provide aggression-promoting odors, (2) application of the urine of isolate male mice to castrate opponents increases the aggressiveness of fighters toward the castrates, and (3) application of iso…
