Previous studies have explained politicians’ positioning on deliberation, while paying little attention to what they understand by deliberative practices. This article provides a new perspective on EU exit as an exemplary form of disruptive dissensus or extreme Euroscepticism by examining how it is shaped by people’s attitudes towards the Union’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
