Strong Fears, Weak Ties, and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury
Through the theoretical lens of the Strength of Weak Ties Theory, this study examined medical advice sought within a self-harm subreddit. Using a social constructionist epistemology and employing a Reflexive Thematic Analysis, we explored 596 inquiries for medical advice about nonsuicidal self-injury-related injuries, wounds, and scar care. Predicting International Student Suicidality by Merging Identity, Suicide, and Acculturation Frameworks
This study combined suicide, acculturation, and identity change frameworks to predict the likelihood of suicidality endorsement among collegiate international students. Participants included 179 undergraduate and graduate international students enrolled at a large Southern university. Ultimately, depression, perceived burdensomeness, and ethnic identity significantly predicted suicidality endorsement after controlling for age, time spent in the U…
