  • The impact of testing positive versus negative for Covid-19 on health-related quality of life

Open Access•Erin Kirwin, Elham Adibnia et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2026

The novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) can have lasting physical and psychological outcomes, though little is known about the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of Canadians. The aim of this study is to estimate the impacts of testing positive for COVID-19 using the EQ-5D-5 L instrument. Our study is a secondary analysis of data collected in the Alberta POST-COVID-19 Follow-up Study, linking survey r…

Open Access•Devon Greyson, Ellen Rafferty et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2019

A high quality systematic review search has three core attributes; it is systematic, comprehensive, and transparent. The current over-emphasis on the primacy of systematic reviews over other forms of literature review in health research, however, runs the risk of encouraging publication of reviews whose searches do not meet these three criteria under the guise of being systematic reviews. This correspondence comes in response to Perman S, Turner …

    Open Access•Ellen Rafferty•ARTICLE•The Journal of Asian Studies•1984•Cited by: 5•References: 14

The linguistic history of the Chinese of Java sketched here focuses on two periods of creative linguistic effort by the Chinese in the development of varieties of Malay/Indonesian. The first period is from 1880–1910, when the Peranakan Chinese—together with Dutch and Eurasians who were writing in Malay at the time—developed a literary language from Low Malay that was primarily an oral language with many regional and social variants. Soon after th…

  • National Language Ability

    Open Access•Ellen Rafferty•ARTICLE•Journal of Southeast Asian Studies•1983•References: 2

The development of the Indonesian national language has been exemplary. Unlike the creation of a national language in other developing countries, as in Malaysia, the Philippines, and India, the choice has not become a political issue. In Indonesia, no sector of society has sought to promote other local or foreign languages as the national language. In 1962, Takdir Alisjahbana outlined the initial development of Indonesian from Malay, the trade la…
