This study examined possible links between acculturation and adjustment in 182 Vietnamese youths living in a primarily Anglo-American community. Maternal perceptual style and mother-infant play behavior
Normal mothers' perceptions of an older child at play were used to assess maternal perceptual biases. Mothers then engaged in play encounters with their 15-month-old infants. Perceptual biases were related to infant and mother play behaviors. For example, positive perceptions were related to positive play and interpersonal behaviors, including mutual play and exchange games. The relationships between marital adjustment, satisfaction with parenting and actual parental behavior were assessed for a sample of first-time parents. Results indicated that there were consistent relationships between fathers' satisfaction scores and their own behaviors, but few relationships between mothers' behaviors and satisfaction scores. Epps Performance under Social Desirability Instructions
The EPPS was administered to 59 female Ss under social desirability instructions (SDI). Under SDI, and similar to males under SDI, Ach, Def, Ord, Aff, Nur, and End means were significantly higher than under standard instructions (Edwards' college norms), and Exh, Aut, Chg, Het, Agg, and Suc, were significantly lower.
