This article reports the results of a national survey of school social workers in which respondents were asked to rate the importance and complexity of different knowledge, skills, and abilities selected by a panel of experts to reflect the breadth of content for entry-level social work practice in schools. An Alternative to Suspension for Middle School Youths With Behavior Problems
A group intervention for middle school youths with behavior problems was tested. Eighty-four subjects were randomly assigned to "school survival" groups or "attention-only" groups. The Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale (N-SLCS) was used to measure shifts in subjects' lo cus of control. Subjects completed the N-SLCS at pretest, posttest, and I-month follow-up. To revitalize the impoverished inner cities, the children in these communities must receive an adequate education.
