Teaching through grief, designing for care
Grief and trauma are often marginalized in higher education, which prioritizes detachment and performance over care. Drawing on personal experience, critical grief pedagogy, and trauma-informed frameworks, this paper argues that grief can catalyze pedagogical transformation. Emotional vulnerability, rather than a weakness, fosters resilience, empathy, and deeper engagement. This paper critiques academic norms that stigmatize grief and proposes a …
Recruitment and retention of minoritized students in Cacrep-accredited counseling programs
The recruitment and retention of minoritized students is critical for diversifying the counseling profession. Accreditation standards and scholarship provide little guidance on best practices. We sampled 38 administrators from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs to understand recruitment and retention practices for minoritized students. Problematizing the Postmodern Condition in Em and the Big Hoom
This paper investigates and problematizes the postmodern condition in Jerry Pinto's novel, Em and the Big Hoom. The complex, medical, psychoanalytic, and psychiatric history of the characters’ psyche is traced out in the novel. Postmodernism is an outgrowth of Modernism. It denotes the status of contemporary society, the revolutions, modifications, and shifts in science, literature, and arts. Taking into account all of the significant shifts from…

The aims of this study were to (a) use a data-based approach to identify positional groups within National Rugby League Women's (NRLW) match-play and (b) quantify the peak locomotor demands of NRLW match-play by positional groups. Microtechnology (Global Navigational Satellite System [GNSS] and integrated inertial sensors; n = 142 files; n = 76 players) and match statistics (n = 238 files; n = 80 players) were collected from all NRLW teams across…

The eight North Eastern states have their unique requirements in skill-based training, depending on the nat…

Revealing the (in)Competency of "Cultural Competency" in Medical Education
There are multiple factors that influence the quality of health and the health care experience of Aboriginal patients. Some of these factors include health professionals' clinical decision-making and miscommunication between doctor and patient. A more "culturally competent" health workforce is a recommended strategy in addressing the extensively documented health disparities between Australia's Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples. Culture, its …

This article examines the influence of the gender of presidential candidates on perceptions of candidate qualifications and vote choice through polling data of likely Ohio voters using five candidates: Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Dole, John Edwards, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. In its examination, this study better mirrors the real‐world presidential selection process than other studies which use hypothetical or generic candidates. We found tha…
Cardiovascular Recovery From Acute Laboratory Stress
OBJECTIVE: We assessed the value of laboratory measures of cardiovascular recovery across four criteria: reliability across multiple tasks, reliability across a 3-year time interval, ability to predict daily ambulatory blood pressure, and interrelationships with coronary risk factors and psychosocial variables. METHODS: Three hundred twenty-nine healthy adults (mean age = 27.1 years) completed a two-part protocol consisting of 1 day of laboratory…
