  • Times of changes, the latest Pleistocene micromammal association of the Salto de Piedra site (Buenos Aires Province, Argentina)

    Open Access•Gustavo N Gómez, Fernando J Fernández et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2026

The results of the taxonomic, taphonomic, and paleoecological analyses of Late Pleistocene micromammals from the Salto de Piedra paleontological locality are presented in this paper. Our results support the conclusion that the microfaunal remains were mainly accumulated by diurnal raptors in areas close to where the remains were deposited, as there is no evidence of transport. Taxonomically, the recovered micromammals include rodents currently in…

  • Freshwater invertebrate assemblages and environmental changes in the Late Pleistocene-Holocene of Salto de Piedra site (central Pampean Region, Buenos Aires, Argentina)

    Open Access•Pamela G Steffan, Gustavo N Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Salto de Piedra is a paleontological site located in the Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) close to Olavarría City at the upper basin of Tapalqué Creek. This site provides new insights about the late Quaternary climatic evolution of the area. The taxonomic and taphonomic analyses of freshwater gastropods from this period allow us to evaluate the magnitude of environmental changes in the area. Paleoclimatic inferences at the top of the sequence (L…

  • An isotopic approach for assessing synergies among extinction drivers on Late Pleistocene megafauna in the Argentine Pampas

Open Access•Jonathan Bellinzoni, Luciano Valenzuela et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 18

  • Micromammal taphonomy and site formation process of Nutria Mansa 1 archaeological site (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

    Open Access•Gustavo N Gómez, M Bonomo•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018•References: 16

This paper presents the results of the taphonomic analysis of the micromammal bone remains recovered from Nutria Mansa 1 (NM1), an archaeological site located in the Pampean plains, Argentina. This campsite was occupied by hunter‐gatherers that processed and consumed Lama guanicoe during the Late Holocene. In NM1, there are taxa from different environments: mammals from arid and semiarid environments (Patagonic Phytogeographic Province) and humid…

  • Preliminary zooarchaeological analysis of Dupuy Rockshelter (La Toma, San Luis Province, Argentina)

    Open Access•Gustavo N Gómez, Jorge O Chiesa et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2016
