Exploring the measurement of health related quality of life and broader instruments
This study contributes to a broader understanding of QoL by exploring the dimensionality and relationships among various QoL measures. A number of the dimensions identified are HRQoL-focused, with others covering broader constructs. Our findings offer insights for the development of comprehensive instruments, or use of instrument suites that capture multidimensional aspects of QoL. Further research should explore the relevance and feasibility/app…
Differing Professional Perspectives on the Interprofessional Collaboration in IPUs
In VBHC, there seems to be a lack of common perception of an IPU's composition and a failure to always achieve high quality interprofessional collaboration. Given the importance of interprofessional collaboration in VBHC, effort should be invested in achieving a shared understanding and improved collaboration
Differing professional perspectives on the integration of care in Integrated Practice Units
Introduction: An important component of Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) is providing the full cycle of care for a specific medical condition in an Integrated Practice Unit (IPU). Although this requires employees from diverse professional backgrounds to interact, there is limited knowledge on how professionals perceive such interprofessional collaboration. Research shows that organising the delivery of integrated care can be challenging, in part due…
The assessment of psychometric properties for the subjective wellbeing-5 dimensions (SWB-5D) questionnaire in the general Dutch population
Compared to traditional health measurement approaches, novel approaches are more focused on the mental and social pillars of health. The SWB-5D shows psychometric feasibility of comprehensive measurement of health, as indicated by a range of validity measures in a large representative sample of the Dutch population
The Icecap-A instrument for capabilities
In summary, results suggest adequate test-retest reliability and construct validity and indicate that the ICECAP-A might be of added value, especially when considering areas outside of the traditional health intervention model
Measuring positive health
The definition of health has been shifting from disease absence to physical, emotional and social well-being. To demedicalise societal problems, the term Positive Health (PH) was introduced-a concept focused on the ability to adapt and to self-manage, in the face of physical, emotional and social challenges. The concept of PH receives broad attention, among others because a PH dialogue tool is intensively being used as a communication instrument …
An assessment of symptom burden in inflammatory bowel diseases to develop a patient preference-weighted symptom score
Domains of quality of life
In traditionally used health-related QoL utility measures, physical domains like 'mobility' are prominently present. The Delphi-procedure shows that health-related QoL (utility) scales need to put sufficient emphasis on mental and social domains to capture aspects of QoL that are essential to people
Implementation of a shared care guideline on the lumbosacral radicular syndrome
Conference abstract of the 9th Annuale Integrated Care Conference, Vienna, Austria, 3-6 November 2009
