Influenza Vaccine Text Message Reminders for Urban, Low-Income Pregnant Women
Objectives. We evaluated the impact of influenza vaccine text message reminders in a low-income obstetric population. Methods. We conducted a randomized controlled trial that enrolled 1187 obstetric patients from 5 community-based clinics in New York City. Cluster membership based on transtheoretical model constructs helps predict oral contraceptive continuation. Women who undervalue the advantages of pill use and have low confidence in their ability to use the method represent a target for interventions and future research
Prior Pill Experiences and Current Continuation Among Pill Restarters
When counseling women who are restarting pill use, providers should ask about their experiences with the method and reasons for discontinuation; counseling for women who discontinued because of side effects should address their risk factors for early discontinuation and informing them about other contraceptive choices

Male partners' awareness of planned pill use may be a marker for the level of communication and commitment in the relationship. Women may choose to disclose their planned pill use to supportive partners, and this may be beneficial to the relationship and the couple's contraceptive use.
