Children's active travel and independent mobility in four countries: Development, social contributing trends and measures
Democratic Anchorage of Infrastructural Governance Networks: The Case of the Femern Belt Forum
Governance networks are often praised for their contribution to making public governance and spatial planning more effective. However, the democratic performance of governance networks is heavily disputed. In order to make a more precise assessment of the democratic quality of governance networks, we need to develop normative criteria that permit us to measure the democratic quality of governance networks on different dimensions. Such criteria ar…
Meta-Governance of Regional Governance Networks in Nordic Countries
The article examines the character of political control in the meta-governance of Nordic regional governance networks, and asks to which degree the different meta-governance strategies ensure democratic legitimacy. We draw upon a unique comparative survey targeting regional network participants in four Nordic countries, enabling us to have a comparative approach. We find variations in how the meta-governance strategy of participation by regional …
Evaluating the Democratic Accountability of Governance Networks: Analysing Two Nordic Megaprojects
There is currently a need to analyse and measure the democratic accountability of governance networks. This kind of analysis and measurement calls for the development of an interactive conceptualisation of democratic accountability that makes it possible to measure the level of democratic accountability of concrete governance networks with reference to the extent to which they interact with (1) relevant politicians appointed through the instituti…
Marginalized or Empowered? Street Reclaiming Strategies and the Situated Politics of Children's Mobilities
This article argues for the importance of acknowledging street reclaiming strategies and the situated politics of urban mobilities as a vital part of the production of urban space. Urban mobilities often form the basis of formal processes of political contestations as well as informal temporary appropriation strategies. As contemporary cities are often dominated by automobility, various other mobile practices tend to be marginalized in policy and…

Space, Power, and Mobility: Car Traffic as a Controversial Issue in Neighbourhood Regeneration
Mobility, especially for car traffic, is a contested spatial phenomenon in contemporary cities. It contributes to processes of segregation and inequality, and the power-geometry of mobility is an integral part of the conflicting rationalities inherent in contemporary urban space wars. Internationally, Copenhagen is often seen as a successfully planned city. However, a case study of a participatory planning initiative in Copenhagen reveals inert a…
The Surveillance of Children's Mobility
The increased protection of children by monitoring them is said to be a central characteristic of modern childhood. In the field of mobility, this aspect of modern childhood is reflected in the fact that children's everyday mobility is to a great extent kept under surveillance, e.g. by parents, kindergarten or school employees and through general traffic regulation. In this article, we investigate the surveillance of children's mobility – primari…
