Higher-order factors of the Big Five
The structure of temperament and personality in Russian children
Russian schoolchildren (N = 480) 8-10 years old were rated by their teachers on 60 scales drawn from 3 sources: the temperament literature, studies of child personality, and Russian educators. Analysis of 21 temperament scales produced 4 meaningful components: sociability, anger, impulsivity, and fear. Component scores formed from these scales were then analyzed in the context of the remaining scales, leading to a solution that demonstrated the u…
Personality Structure: Emergence of the Five-Factor Model
There is clear evidence that parents can and do influence children. There is equally clear evidence that children’s genetic makeup affects their own behavioral characteristics, and also influences the way they are treated by their parents. Twin and ...Read More
Five Robust Trait Dimensions: Development, Stability, and Utility
Interest has grown in recent years in a five‐factor model for the organization of personality characteristics A brief history of the development of this model is given It is evident that the model is very general across variations in raters and ratees and across languages There is also evidence that the structure of personality inventories reflects this model Although most of the studies that have demonstrated the model have utilized either self‐…

Factors In The Natural Language Of Personality: Re-Analysis, Comparison, And Interpretation Of Six Major Studies
Psychometric studies of the organization of the "natural language of personality" have typically employed rating scales as measurement medium and factor analysis as statistical technique. The results of such investigations over the past 30 years have varied greatly, both with respect to number of factors and with respect to the constructs generated. Re-analysis of the correlations of six studies, including the classical work of Cattell, indicated…
The Procrustes Class of Factor-Analytic Transformations
The Procrustes method of deriving a reference vector structure from a principal-axes factor matrix is shown to be a class of solutions all of which obtain a transformation matrix which "rotates" the principal-axes matrix as close as possible to some desired matrix H. Various factor transformation methods, such as Promax, eigenvector rotation, as well as the classical Procrustes, differ chiefly in their rationale and method of generating H
Child Behavior Ratings: Further Evidence of a Multiple-Factor Model of Child Personality
Flexibility and rigidity in a variety of problem situations
