The Importance of Race in Home Mortgage Loan Approvals
The purpose of this research note is to document the importance of empirical specification in the analysis of the influence of race on home mortgage lending decisions. Using a variety of testing procedures and detailed lending decision data for a large midwestern lending institution, the authors show that dramatically different results may be obtained from slight changes in empirical specification. Methodological Issues in the Determination of the Quality of Life in Urban Areas
This paper presents a model which illustrates the interaction between the labour and real estate markets in the determination of the value of local amenities. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the importance of functional form in measuring the quality of life (QOL) in urban areas. Revealed Preferences for Neighbourhood Characteristics
The research reported here analyses the relative influence of a variety of neighbourhood characteristics, not by the more common means of aggregate comparative analysis, but by examination of major influences revealed by the observed market behaviour of an interviewed sample of actual movers in St Louis, Missouri.
