Modeling Public Corruption Tolerance
Due to its complexity, corruption tolerance among public servants has predominantly been investigated through qualitative rather than quantitative research. Accordingly, this article examines tolerance of public corruption through a system dynamics simulation grounded in a linear model that estimates whistleblowing intention. To construct this model, 21 variables related to tolerance of corruption were identified and measured using a Likert-scale…
Effects of tourism on well-being from the perspective of key actors
Tourism generates both positive and negative impacts, affecting the well-being of various stakeholders such as tourists, residents, workers, and governments. The effects include economic growth, infrastructure, and employment, but also environmental and social problems. Related literature reviews are scarce and have concentrated on separately identifying the relationship between tourism and the well-being of tourists or residents. This study seek…
From framing to emotion
This review examines the relationship between media and politics in the Ibero-American context during the decade preceding the COVID-19 pandemic (2008–2019). Understanding Persistent Wage Disparities in Rural Colombia
This research provides the first comprehensive analysis of the rural–urban wage gap in Colombia, with a focus on the coffee and cocoa sectors, over the past two decades. Using household survey microdata from 2001 to 2023 and international sources, we estimate wage differentials and apply econometric models—including Mincerian wage regressions and Blinder–Oaxaca decompositions. Results reveal a persistent and substantial wage gap: on average, rura…
University Social Responsibility
This study aims to analyze the influence of the discourse of international organizations on university social responsibility (USR), from international organizations, in the policy and management frameworks of the State University System in Colombia. Then, we reviewed institutional documents of global and regional organizations, as well as educational policy documents from higher education institutions. Using Atlas Ti. 23 software, our findings in…
Social Fragility
Social fragility, defined as the inability of a society to manage risks and resolve conflicts without violence or external aid, is closely linked to early fertility and domestic violence, particularly among vulnerable populations. These challenges were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed regional disparities across Colombia, particularly in areas with weak social infrastructure and high dependence on public policies. This study in…
Rural Education in Colombia
This article examines educational quality policies in Colombia’s rural areas, emphasizing the need for approaches tailored to the social, cultural, and economic specificities of these communities. Using a qualitative methodology grounded in Grounded Theory, data on global and national public policies were categorized, revealing persistent gaps in infrastructure, teacher training, and student retention. The findings highlight the importance of pri…
Quantum Mechanics as a Constructive Theory
Einstein’s 1919 distinction between “principle theories” and ”constructive theories” has been applied by Jeffrey Bub to classify the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics (QM) as a principle theory agree with this classification. Additionally, I argue that Bohm’s interpretation of QM fits Einstein’s concept of a constructive theory. Principle theories include empirically established laws or principles, such as the first and second laws o…
Study about the implementation of E-government and digital government policies from the G2G approach
The research on e-government and digital government policies has grown due to increased technological use by both governments and citizens. However, there remains a gap in understanding the government-to-government (G2G) aspect. That being said, the aim of this paper was to determine the variables that influence the implementation of e-government and digital government public policies in the Government to Government (G2G) approach. The study empl…

Rural higher education in Colombia
Education can be seen as a driver for social development because people with a higher level of education can access a better income and a better quality of life. The Colombian state has proclaimed various public policies that guarantee this right, especially for rural populations that face more disparities resulting from the internal armed conflict and drug trafficking, among other issues. The purpose of this article is to describe the evolution …

Dropout in Rural Higher Education
Student dropout in higher education has been of great interest to the academic community, state and social actors over the last three decades, due to the various effects that this event has on the student, the family, higher education institutions, and the state itself. It is recognised that dropout at this level of education is extremely complex due to its multi-causality which is expressed in the existing relationship in its explanatory variabl…
Rural Population and Covid-19
Higher education is one of the ways to overcome social inequalities in rural areas in developing countries. This has led states to develop public policies aimed at access, retention and timely graduation of students in those sectors, yet the high drop-out rates among the rural student population, which were catalysed by COVID-19, prevent the intrinsic and extrinsic benefits of obtaining a higher education degree from materialising. Thus, the stud…
