    For three decades, Cuban studies emphasized the origins, process, and aftermath of the 1959 revolution. Scholarly debates often mirrored political polarization, vigorously attacking or defending the revolution.     This article explores the impact of globalization and neo-liberal reforms on the health of Venezuelans and Cubans during the 1980s and 1990s. It seeks to illustrate, through the lens of health care, how global economic forces affect national development and people's lives. Venezuela and Cuba struggled with severe economic crises and their health systems suffered. Cuba, however, was able to preserve a greater degree of control over its adjustment …
