  • Integrating logistics into urban planning: Best practices from Paris and Rotterdam

Bram Kin, Heleen Buldeo et al.•ARTICLE•European Planning Studies•2024

Cities all over the world are rethinking their mobility policies in light of environmental and quality of life objectives. As space is one of cities’ scarcest resources, mobility’s spatial footprint is increasingly scrutinized as externality to mitigate. Similar to passenger transport, goods transport is envisioned to shift towards efficient and zero emission mobilities. To achieve an urban logistics system that eliminates inefficiencies and foss…

    Laetitia Dablanc•ARTICLE•Flux•2021

  • City Logistics

    Open Access•Laetitia Dablanc•CHAPTER•International Encyclopedia of…•2019

City logistics represents more than the mere transportation of goods within urban areas. It can be defined as any service provision contributing to efficiently managing the movements of goods in cities and providing innovative responses to customer demands . As such, city logistics does not apply well to the way goods are currently delivered and picked up in cities worldwide, as a significant portion of these activities remain inefficient and imp…

Anne Aguilera, Laetitia Dablanc et al.•ARTICLE•Réseaux•2018•Cited by: 8•References: 14

  • The impacts of logistics sprawl: How does the location of parcel transport terminals affect the energy efficiency of goods’ movements in Paris and what can we do about it?

    Open Access•Laetitia Dablanc, Dina Rakotonarivo•ARTICLE•Procedia - Social and Behavioral…•2010

In this paper, we propose to identify the location of parcel transport terminals in the Paris region (the “Ile-de-France”), and discuss its impacts on Paris urban goods’ movements and their carbon footprint. We present the gradual relocation of parcel transport's terminals from the urban cores in the 1970 s to the outer suburban today. We evaluate whether this movement of “logistics sprawl” (the historical trend towards spatial deconcentration of…
