The Political Role of the Church as Defined by Its Parishioners
In the study described here, the authors investigated the parishioners' attitudes toward the appropriate domain of the church. They examined the differing views of the role of the church and found, for example, that the most committed church members were the least permissive toward the participation of the church in politics
Political Extremists in Iran: A Secondary Analysis of Communications Data
Although the study on which this paper is based was originally designed to investigate communications behavior in the Near and Middle East, a secondary analysis of the material produced interesting quantitative data on political extremists. Extremists, be they “right” or “left,” were found to share many social and behavioral characteristics, to be socially detached but not socially isolated, and to have more leadership potential than non-extremis…
