  • Perceived risk of future drugs--A Danish citizen Delphi

Claus M⊘ldrup, Janine Marie Morgall et al.•ARTICLE•Health Risk & Society•2002

This study adopts a prospective approach in order to explore and define the perceived risks of future drugs from a citizen perspective. More precisely, we attempt to characterise how citizens anticipate future drugs and their associated risks, the risk focus, risk acceptance and scepticism. The prospective Delphi method was used with a total of 462 (round 1) and 377 (round 2) Danish citizens participating. This study reports that despite the fact…

  • Risk Society - Reconsidered in a drug context

    Claus M⊘ldrup, Janine Marie Morgall•ARTICLE•Health Risk & Society•2001

This article attempts to test Ulrich Beck's theoretical concept of risks as presented in his work Risk Society . Based on a case study of the psychotropic drug fluoxetine, better known as Prozac ®, we show how risks associated with modern drugs are induced by socially constructed technological artefacts and are capab…

  • United States and Denmark

Henry P David, Janine Marie Morgall et al.•ARTICLE•Studies in Family Planning•1990•Cited by: 3

The findings of this study suggest that, compared to the United States, Danish health care policies and family planning services delivery systems are, in the aggregate, more conducive to the promotion of effective contraceptive practice, more instrumental in conveying information to high-risk groups, and more successful in reducing the incidence of unintended pregnancies and induced abortions. One of the major reasons for this difference may stem…

The field of medical technology assessment is rapidly developing and, within the area of reproductive technology, the issues are extremely complex. These sophisticated technologies involve the genetic manipulation of human germ cells and fertilized eggs, and may have irreversible effects on future gener ations. The example of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is used Although still considered 'experimental' by some countnes (an opinion shared by the W…
