  • Population Redistribution within the Rural-Urban Fringe: A Typology of Small Towns and Rural Municipalities in the State of New Jersey

    This article provides additional evidence for the redistribution of population to the rural-urban fringe and identifies those types of municipalities that experienced the greatest growth during the 1970s. Furthermore, it finds that the factors that account for population growth at the rural-urban fringe are not only those associated with suburbanization, but also those associated with nonmetropolitan growth. Except as noted below the samples were processed using the benzene synthesis and other procedures described by Mathews, et al (1972)

    New or increased charges to the users of the social services are likely to be considered with greater interest in our present economic situation. It seems an appropriate time, therefore, to ask what purposes direct charges are intended to serve and whether, in practice, they live up to these expectations.
