Premarital Anxieties
It was hypothesized that among never-marrieds the prospect of marriage evokes strong anxieties concerning the success and stability of marriage. Furthermore, these anxieties are primarily caused by and are specific to marriage anticipation and do not merely reflect anxiety-prone or emotionally insecure personalities. No paranormal phenomenon has so captured public attention and has so permeated contemporary popular culture as have the so‐called “Unidentified Flying Objects” (UFOs). However, few empirical studies exist to explain why some believe UFOs are alien spacecraft while others do not.
