As the Journal of Media and Religion (JMR) begins its seventh year, the editors pause to reflect on research directions and make recommendations for future research. Secularization and the Religious Audience
This study explores how an interpretive community of Mormons employs secularization defense strategies in the media environment of Las Vegas, Nevada. Focus groups, nonparticipant observations, and semistructured interviews reveal a psychological separation from media when messages cannot be physically avoided.
