Long-run management of Greenland's fishery on Greenland halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides)
In this paper, we consider four scenarios for economic optimal management of a fisheries resource by a high sea and coastal fleet segment. These scenarios differ with respect to whether a common or two separate fish stocks are considered and whether the profit from land-based processing is included. The model is parametrized using the Greenland halibut fishery on the west coast of Greenland as an empirical case. For this fishery, we show that the…
The Danish Ibbis Trials for Sickness Absentees with Common Mental Disorders
The real-word group showed significantly worse vocational outcomes. Like in many other studies of complex interventions, implementation was difficult in the original randomized trials and perhaps even more difficult in the less structured real-world setting. Since the intervention was less effective for some groups compared to SAU in the original trial, this negative effect may be even more pronounced in a real-world setting
Structural and productivity changes from introducing strong user rights in the Danish demersal fisheries
This study examines structural and total factor productivity changes given the transition to a management system introducing stronger user rights (SURs) embedded in an individual transferable quota (ITQ) management scheme for the Danish demersal fishery in 2007. The focus is on the four most profitable Danish demersal segments. A Malmquist index approach is applied over the 2000–2016 period, thus capturing possible changes before and after the ma…

IntroductionAnxiety and depression are common causes of long-term sick leave. Currently, lack of coordination of the relevant interventions, seems to entail confusion among sick employees, afflicting their recovery and return-to-work (RTW) process. A positive effect of integrating vocational rehabilitation (VR) and mental health care (MHC) is indicated by some studies, but not finally established. The aim of this study is to examine the efficacy …

Informal and formal reconciliation strategies of older peoples' working carers
Faced with a historically unprecedented process of demographic ageing, many European societies implemented pension reforms in recent years to extend working lives. Although aimed at rebalancing public pension systems, this approach has the unintended side effect that it also extends the number of years in which working carers have to juggle the conflicting demands of employment and caregiving. This not only impinges on working carers’ well-being …

Patterns of intergenerational support in grandparent-grandchild and parent-child relationships in Germany
The paper focuses on intergenerational support relations between grandparents and their grandchildren in Germany, and how they have changed from 1996 to 2002. The paper begins with a brief review of the literature on functional aspects of the grandparent-grandchild relationship, after which the research hypotheses about intergenerational support in the relationship are elaborated. Following a description of the data source, the German Ageing Surv…
