  • Un effet Gutman en ACP

Claude Flament, Laurent Milland•ARTICLE•Mathématiques et sciences humaines•2005•Cited by: 2•References: 1

The recourse to multidimensional methods in the data treatment allows for extracting structures of unidimensional data, when they exist, and one speaks then about Guttman effect. If the disclosure of such an effect is well-known in Correspondences Analysis, it can be also carried out in Principal Component Analysis, as presented here, while studying special properties of this effect (component of size, diagonal component, etc). The study of such …

    Open Access•Alain Degenne, Claude Flament•ARTICLE•Bulletin of Sociological…•1984•Cited by: 5•References: 6

The authors begin with a brief review of the framework in which network analysis has been used in sociology and with a presentation of the basic notation employed. Using this basis, they then define the concept of regularity in social networks. After a short recall of matrix algebra resultats, several conditions for regularity are given along with examples of its use and application in social networks. These results are compared with those of the…

  • Social categorization and intergroup behaviour

    Open Access•Henri Tajfel, M G Billig et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•1971•Cited by: 694•References: 9

The aim of the studies was to assess the effefcs of social categorization on intergroup behaviour when, in the intergroup situation, neither calculations of individual interest nor previously existing attitudes of hostility could have been said to have determined discriminative behaviour against an outgroup. These conditions were satisfied in the experimental design. In the first series of experiments, it was found that the subjects favoured thei…
