Bhutan is the second largest of the three independent kingdoms that separate India from Tibet. It is almost entirely mountai ous, the hills on the Indian border rising to 13,000 ft. In addition to its southern and eastern frontier with India, it is bounded in the north by the Bhutan Himal and here the frontier has evolved along the main Himalayan watershed.
