David B Hay, David Hay et al.•ARTICLE•Assessment & Evaluation in Higher…•2010

The aim of this study is to argue for alternative assessment methods (i.e. concept map) considering the changes in demography in higher education. In the case of school of dentistry, for example, there is an urgent call for a catalyst for new assessment methods in dental education in view of the drive to comprehensively assess professional competence to cater to the current work requirement; this quantitative study compared two different approach…

    Open Access•Ian M Kinchin, David Streatfield et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2010•Cited by: 12•References: 16

In this paper the authors report the use of concept mapping as a means of summarizing interview transcripts in the study of the information-seeking behavior of employees in an organization. • Using concept maps to measure deep, surface and non-learning outcomes

    David B Hay, David Hay•ARTICLE•Studies in Higher Education•2007•Cited by: 8•References: 19

This article reports the use of concept mapping to reveal patterns of student learning (or non‐learning) in the course of master’s level teaching for research methods. The work was done with a group of 12 postgraduate students, and the concept maps of four individuals produced before and after a single teaching intervention are shown in detail. The data are presented as case studies that document the incidence of deep learning, surface learning a…
