Dalma ceramics at Surezha in the Erbil Plain: Stylistic, compositional, and petrographic evidence for trans-Zagros interaction during the Terminal Ubaid/Late Chalcolithic 1
A preliminary assessment of ceramic style and chemical composition during the Chalcolithic era at Surezha, Iraqi Kurdistan
Recent excavations at Surezha, a site in the Erbil Plain of Iraqi Kurdistan, are revealing the settlement history of this village from the late 6th through the mid-4th millennium BC (the Late Ubaid through Late Chalcolithic 4 periods). Throughout Prehistory, this region has had strong cultural links with Eastern Anatolia, Northwestern Iran, Western Syria, and Southern Mesopotamia, although the detailed chronology of such connections and their rol…

Itinerant potters and the transmission of ceramic technologies and styles during the Proto-Elamite period in Iran
New Radiocarbon Dates for the Banesh Period Occupation at Tal-E Kureh, Fars, Iran
Three AMS radiocarbon dates on samples of bone collagen from the archaeological site of Tal-e Kureh indicate that the transition from the Lapui to the Banesh eras in the Kur River Basin occurred around c. 3365 BC. This finding accords well with radiocarbon dates of the Lapui-Banesh transition from the Mamasani region and also with age estimates for the Early Banesh based on ceramic parallels with material from the Susiaria Plain

Trade and Politics in Proto-Elamite Iran [and Comments and Reply]
During the Proto-Elamite period, 3300-2800 B.C., a political and economic hegemony seems to have arisen in the southwestern highlands of Iran. The power of this hegemony was derived from its control over the major trade routes between the Iranian plateau and Mesopotamia; its extent is defined by shared styles in ceramics, art, and architecture and by the use of a distincitive system of writing and recording. Proto-Elamite influence grew rapidly d…
