  • Upper Pleistocene Marine Levels of the Es Copinar–Es Estufadors (Formentera, Balearic Islands, West Mediterranean)

Open Access•Laura Del Valle Villalonga, Laura del Valle et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary•2025

Late Pleistocene coastal deposits on the southeastern coast of Formentera (Es Ram–Es Estufadors) provide a high-resolution record of sea-level and climatic fluctuations associated with Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5. Three distinct beach levels (Sef-1, Sef-2, Sef-3) were identified, corresponding to substages MIS 5e, 5c, and possibly 5a, based on sedimentological features, fossil assemblages, and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating. The …

  • Paleoenvironmental changes and sea-level fluctuations record at Punta de s’Avançada, Mallorca Island

Open Access•Federica Perazzotti, Laura Del Valle Villalonga et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2025

  • Exploring a Mallorca cave flooding during the Little Ice Age using nondestructive techniques on a stalagmite

Open Access•Mercè Cisneros, Isabel Cacho et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2024

This study focuses on characterizing a discontinuity within the Seán stalagmite (4.75–7.75 cm) by means of two nondestructive techniques: (1) high-resolution micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and (2) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) core scanning (XRFCS). Micro-CT was used to study the stalagmite density, and XRFCS was applied to obtain the qualitative elemental composition and colour measurements. The new data obtained from nondestructive techniques …

  • Palaeoenvironmental record of the Cal Maurici wetland sediment archive in Barcelona (NE Iberian Peninsula) between c. 6000 and 4000 cal. yr BP

    Open Access•Joan Daura, M Sanz et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2016

This study presents the results of a multi-proxy analysis conducted to improve our understanding of the palaeoenvironmental conditions of the freshwater and brackish marshes of Cal Maurici (Barcelona, Spain) and the human impact on them during the mid-Holocene (6171–3891 cal. yr BP). The study integrates data from pollen, phytolith, diatom, charcoal, seeds and malacological analyses and helps to reconstruct the ecological conditions during the ea…
