  • Reconstruction of climatic and socio-economic impacts on the landscape of northern Tuscany (Italy) over the last 2000 years based on palaeoecological and historical evidence

Open Access•Scott Mensing, Theodore Dingemans et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocene•2025•References: 55

  • Understanding the historic legacies of empire from the timbers left behind

    Open Access•Kirsten Greer, Adam Csank et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Geographies /…•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 56

The forests of British North America were integral to Britain's maritime empire. Many of these timbers exist today as wooden beams and flooring at historical dockyards and garrisons such as the Royal Naval Dockyard of Bermuda. In this paper, we investigate what timbers from this Dockyard can tell us about interconnections and empire‐building throughout the North Atlantic region. To do this we drew from approaches of critical physical geography, h…

  • Temporal stability in bristlecone pine tree-ring stable oxygen isotope chronologies over the last two centuries

    Open Access•Roderick J Bale, Iain Robertson et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2010•References: 1

The absolutely dated bristlecone pine ( Pinus longaeva) tree-ring chronology spans almost 9000 years, offering great potential for inferring past environmental change. Existing ring width chronologies have been widely used to produce some of the most influential millennial length temperature reconstructions for the Northern Hemisphere. A recently published δ 18 O record from two bristlecone pine trees growing at Methuselah Walk in the White Mount…

  • An International Tree-Ring Isotope Data Bank– A Proposed Repository for Tree-Ring Isotopic Data

    Adam Csank, Adam Z Csank•ARTICLE•Tree-Ring Research•2009

The International Tree-Ring Data Bank (ITRDB) is an invaluable resource, providing access to a massive and growing cache of tree-ring data. Oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen isotope tree-ring studies, which have provided valuable climatic and ecological information, have proliferated for decades so an ITRDB expansion to include isotopic data would likewise benefit the scientific community. An international tree-ring isotope databank (ITRIDB) …
