  • Early historical forest clearance caused major degradation of water quality at Lake Væng, Denmark

Open Access•Ole Bennike, Bent Vad Odgaard et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocene•2021•References: 79

  • A 300-year surge history of the Drangajökull ice cap, northwest Iceland, and its maximum during the ‘Little Ice Age’

    Open Access•Skafti Brynjólfsson, Anders Schomacker et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2015•References: 14

Over the last 300 years, each of the three surge-type outlet glaciers of the Drangajökull ice cap in northwest Iceland has surged 2–4 times. There is valuable historical information available on the surge frequencies since the ‘Little Ice Age’ (LIA) maximum because of the proximity of the surging outlets, Reykjarfjarðarjökull, Leirufjarðarjökull and Kaldalónsjökull, to farms and pastures and monitoring of these glaciers since 1931. We have recons…

  • Impact of multiple glacier surges—a geomorphological map from Brúarjökull, East Iceland

    Open Access•Kurt H Kjær, Niels J Korsgaard et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2008

Please click here to download the map associated with this article. Simultaneously with geological field investigations at the surge-type glacier Brúarjökull in August 2003, aerial photographs covering the central part of the glacier including the Kringilsárrani area were recorded with the purpose of mapping glacial landforms. A glacial geomorphological map has been completed at a scale 1:16,000 including more than 20,000 landforms from an area o…
