Cyborgs, Mind Uploading, and Christian Theological Anthropology
Rapid developments in artificial intelligence, brain–computer interfaces (BCIs), and other neurotechnologies challenge established understandings of embodiment, personal identity, and human agency. Cyborg enhancement and mind uploading raise fundamental questions about what constitutes a human person and whether personal identity can survive technological transformation. This article approaches these questions from the perspective of Christian th…
Why Do Opinions and Actions Diverge? A Dynamic Framework to Explore the Impact of Subjective Norms
Socio-psychological studies have identified a common phenomenon where an individual’s public actions do not necessarily coincide with their private opinions, yet most existing models fail to capture the dynamic interplay between these two aspects. To bridge this gap, we propose a novel agent-based modeling framework that integrates opinion dynamics with a decision-making mechanism. More precisely, our framework generalizes the classical Hegselman…
The Philosophy of Life in the philosophical-theological synthesis of St. Justin the New (Popović)
Serbian theological thought in a period of transition
This paper explores the development of contemporary Serbian theology from the late 20th to the early 21st century within the broader context of Orthodox theological discourse. It focuses on three central dimensions that have shaped the identity of Serbian theology during this period: the return-to-the-fathers movement and the neopatristic synthesis, the revival of interest in Serbia?s spiritual and theological heritage, and the engagement with ec…
The Medieval Slavonic Reception of Maximus the Confessor’s Circle – Center – Radii Analogy
The paper contends that certain circle diagrams discovered in 14th-century Slavonic medieval manuscripts of Dorotheus of Gaza’s Instructions, crafted during the Palamite controversy, are influenced by the concepts of Maximus the Confessor. The paper offers an in-depth analysis of select Slavonic diagrams originating from Serbian monasteries in the final decades of the 14th century. It begins by examining simple diagrams wherein the circle’s cente…
Neoplatonism in Byzantine and Early Serbian philosophy
The paper examines some of the main metaphysical concepts of the thought of Dionysius the Areopagite and Maximus the Confessor, such as unity, differentiation, movement, limit, and logoi, in the context of the metaphor of circles and radii. It begins with an analysis of simple diagrams that appear in some Greek and Slavonic manuscripts of Dionysius? works On the Divine Names. The paper goes on to examine more complex diagrams involving a circle o…

Urban spatial dynamic modeling based on urban amenity data to inform smart city planning
An ideal form of smart city planning would focus on the availability of urban amenities that can meet the basic needs of a resident's material life, civil connections, and humanistic spirit. Previous studies have concentrated on analyzing the spatial distribution of urban services, with less attention on their contribution as local urban amenities. In this study, we propose a spatial dynamic modeling approach based on urban amenities using social…
Urban Ecosystem Vulnerability Assessment of Support Climate-Resilient City Development
Climate change poses a threat to cities. Geospatial information and communication technology (Geo-ICT) assisted planning is increasingly being utilised to foster urban sustainability and adaptability to climate change. To fill the theoretical and practical gaps of urban adaptive planning and Geo-ICT implementation, this article presents an urban ecosystem vulnerability assessment approach using integrated socio-ecological modelling. The applicati…
Sex, gender and Christian identity in the patristic era
Focusing on three historical examples of a different understanding of Christian identity, the paper seeks to address the role of contemporary concepts of sex and gender in the creation of Christian identity. In the first case study, focused on the literary representations of the Christian martyrdom from the second and third centuries, special emphasis is placed on the demand for the ?manly? or ?masculine? way of witnessing faith. The second histo…
How Does ICT Expansion Drive “Smart” Urban Growth? A Case Study of Nanjing, China
In the context of accelerated urbanization, socioeconomic development, and population growth, as well as the rapid advancement of information and communication technology (ICT), urban land is rapidly expanding worldwide. Unplanned urban growth has led to the low utilization efficiency of land resources. Also, ecological and agricultural lands are continuously sacrificed for urban construction, which in the long-term may severely impact the health…
Spatial dynamic modelling for urban scenario planning
Although urban scenario planning is widely applied for exploring various directions of urban development, it often has high requirements on the medium of quantitative information analysis and transformation. Thus, this study establishes a method of combining scenario planning with a spatial dynamic planning support system to predict urban growth. Specifically, a scenario-based spatial dynamic modelling method is integrated with the information mo…
The tempered one-sided stable density
A generalized distribution for the water residence time in hydrological transport is proposed in the form of the tempered one-sided stable (TOSS) density. It is shown that limiting cases of the TOSS distribution recover virtually all distributions that have been considered in the literature for hydrological transport, from plug flow to flow reactor, the advection–dispersion model, and the gamma and Levy densities. The stable property of TOSS is p…
Toward the philosophy of creation
The article aims to present the philosophical argumentation in favor of the Christian idea of the creation of the world exposed in the work of the seventh century author Maximus the Confessor. Maximus the Confessor developed his doctrine of creation on the basis of the philosophical arguments of his Christian predecessors, above all, Gregory of Nyssa, Nemesius of Emesa and Dionysius the Areopagite. The core of Maximus? argumentation on the creati…

Social changes and changing role of mixed households in Serbia
Every specific social order relies on certain elements in social structure. In the case of Serbian society in the last decade of twentieth century significant role had played group of people that occupied two socio-economic positions, workers' and peasants'. The power of this group steamed from two points: their value system and capability to efficiently survive economic hardship by having alternative to secure living resources. Other specificity…
National identity and institutional (re)construction in Serbia
In a new attempt to give a definition of Serbia national identity, it is of a decisive significance to make a connection between critically valued tradition from one side, and globalization requests from the other side. The fruitful connection between the old and the new is possible only if Serbia succeed in the construction of democratic and no corrupted state institutions that will create a rational consciousness of Serbia distinctness, as well…
