Puberty, Family Size and the Educational Progress of Girls

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of two variables: rate of physical maturation and family size on the intelligence and attainments of girls between the ages of 11 1/2 and 15 1/2 attending schools in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The Secular Trend in Puberty
An investigation is described in which data concerning the age of menarche were obtained from a sample of girls in three West Riding schools. Every care was taken to ensure the accurate reporting of this event. When the figures were compared with those obtained earlier from a closely similar group, a discrepancy of six months in the median age was noted. This is explained in terms of an artifact resulting from the method of reporting the event. W…
Changes in Religious Attitude and Practices Among Students During University Degree Courses
S ummary . A sample of 106 university students was given a religious attitude scale and a questionnaire concerning their religious activities and belief in their first year and then again in their third year. Significant decreases in response were found for four of the seven indices used. A Comparison of Programmed Learning and Note‐making at Two Age Levels
S ummary . Two investigations were undertaken to examine learning from two different forms of programmed instruction. In one condition, subjects were asked to make continuous responses to a linear programme; in the other, subjects were asked to work through the same programme presented in the form of a text‐book, and to make their own notes.
