  • Metacognitive judgements and abilities in patients with affective disorders

  • Exploring the relationship of decentering to health related concepts and cognitive and metacognitive processes in a student sample

Open Access•Ramona Kessel, Judith Gecht et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2016

The present results suggest that decentering is associated with concepts of mental health (i.e. less severity of depressive symptoms and higher functional self-focussed attention). Overall, the concept decentering seems to be mainly composed of self-focussed aspects when investigated in a healthy sample without intervention. Further investigations of associated concepts of decentering should consider aspects of self-relevance and emotional valenc…

  • A mediation model of mindfulness and decentering

Open Access•Judith Gecht, Ramona Kessel et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2014

The present results cannot sustain previous research, which converted mindfulness and decentering into one single variable. Rather the data suggests to treat mindfulness and decentering as two separable concepts and to regard decentering as an important working mechanism of mindfulness

  • Does Clinical Experience or Professional Training Have an Impact On What Symptoms Are Thought To Be Important Features of Depression

Open Access•Thomas Forkmann, Nicole Eberle et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2011

Background: Concerning diagnostics of mental disorders, increasing time and cost pressure in the clinical practice often requires an ad hoc and intuitive holistic examination of the patient’s clinical presentation instead of the application of standardized diagnostic instruments. This study examined whether attributes of mental healthcare professionals (professional training, clinical experience, socio-demographic variables) affect their implicit…

  • Inhibitory after-effects in the stop signal paradigm

Open Access•Martina Rieger, Siegfried Gauggel•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•1999•Cited by: 1

The inhibition of responses to interfering stimuli in a trial results in longer reaction times in the following trial in which to-be-ignored stimuli become targets. This is due to the fact that the residual inhibition of the distractor must be overcome before the relevant response can be produced. Such negative priming effects are wellknown inhibitory after-effects and the focus of intensive research. However, it seems reasonable to assume that t…
