  • Kitchenification. A Change of Surfaces in the Homes of DK

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Home Cultures•2023•References: 3

This article, based on a multi-temporal fieldwork, shows how replacement of domestic surfaces interferes with the way people interact and how they imagine homes as well as relations beyond the home. Advertisements from estate agents, catalogues from furniture companies such as IKEA, home renovation shows on TV, SoMe-posts, and house magazines indicate that replacements have become a trend inside Danish homes. This movement towards replacements an…

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Tidsskriftet Antropologi•2019

This article is formed as a narrative interpretation of the dramatic conflict which took place between the two royal brothers Huascar and Atahuallpa, both Incas of Tawantinsuyu, 'the unit of the four regions', the Indian name for 'the Inca empire'. The article is also an unfurling of a formal-structural figure in Incaic perception and categorization, namely the division into two halves, also to be found in certain terms of the guec/iua-language o…

Many people experience something that they cannot explain, often they hear something that is not there as a visible fact. The sensation of hearing, for example, someone who is walking through your apartment, when no one is there as far as your eyes can see, poses a problem to the witness, especially if he or she does not think that this kind of occurrence is possible. Based on my fieldwork on haunted houses in Denmark today, this article deals wi…

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Dansk Sociologi•2007

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Tidsskriftet Antropologi•2003

From the point of view of inhabitants of Skåde Bakker and Fedet, two well-off neighbourhoods in the Danish city of Aarhus, this article discusses social and visual perceptions of space. The spatial understanding of the city of Aarhus is twofold: it is understood simultaneously as an entity (a coherent city with centre and periphery) and as an archipelago of different spatial organisations in a big urbanised sea. Among the multitude of spaces and …

  • Introduktion

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Tidsskriftet Antropologi•2003

  • Introduktion

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Tidsskriftet Antropologi•2002

    Kirsten Marie Raahauge•ARTICLE•Tidsskriftet Antropologi•1997

Kirsten Marie Raahauge: Museum's Space The article discusses the interaction of objects and museums. It claims that a thing gets other tasks when becoming a 'member' of a museum collection than those it had originally. In this way the museum object is viewed as a representative of both its own story and a representative of the culture that creates museums. The museum is considered as a local phenomenon that deals with universal tasks. The article…
