Syaikh Zainal Abidin bin al-Khatib Umar was an eminent 19th century Bugis religious scholar and Qur’anic scribe from Pammana, Wajo, in South Sulawesi. This article discusses the reconstruction of Islam in Wajo by looking at Lontaraq Suqkuna Wajo of Datuk Sangaji Sengkang collection as the main source of the study.
